In regard to your message sent to the Bucharest Transport Company (STB SA), registered with no. 66172/20.06.2022, we inform you the following:
Before traveling with the public transport vehicles operated by STB SA, please make sure that you know how to validate the credit card or the mobile phone at the electronic equipments installed for this purpose into the vehicles. We mention that the trip payment can also be made with the travel card or by SMS or 24Pay app.
Details about trip payment with the contactless bank card or mobile phone can be obtained on our website, at the folowing link: https://stbsa.ro/eng/card_contactless_eng.
The control activity is carried out by our ticket inspectors, in order to ensure optimum safety and order conditions within the surface public transport vehicles and to combat fraudulent trips.
In order to efficiently carry out the activity of verifying tickets and passes in public transport vehicles, starting with June 2022, STB SA also carries out overcontrol activities, with control teams who do not wear blue vests with the CONTROL - STB insignia.
At the time of control, the ticket inspectors are instructed to present the control card, the operator card and the control equipment.
The control card contains the photo and the identification data of the STB SA employee (name, surname and service number), and on the back is the control delegation, which represents the empowerment of the STB SA employee to verify tickets and passes.
The operator card with active control application (called identity card) also contains the photo and the identification data of the STB SA employee (name, surname and service number), through which the ticket inspectors authenticate and initiate the control status at the electronic equipments installed into the vehicles. This card cannot be cloned and is in the possession of employees only during working hours.
The control equipment allows the verification of travel documents, through an application.
When asked by the ticket inspectors, passengers must provide the tickets they are using and the owners of nominal subscription or credentials must provide, on request, their IDs.
Traveling without a valid ticket is considered a contravention, and according to the regulation of the local public transport community service for Bucharest and Ilfov county, the fine set for this offense is between 300 and 500 lei. In this case, passengers may pay on the spot a ticket with special rate – surcharge, with a value of 80 lei and the ticket inspectors will not write a report on the offense.
The surcharge card allows the use of all surface public transport vehicles in the Bucharest-Ilfov Region, only during the day it was issued, until midnight (24:00), and then its validity expires.
Our employee to whom you referred stated that she had behaved appropriately, giving you information on how to pay the trip when using the public transport vehicles operated by STB SA. Moreover, she stated that she did not withhold your passport and she gave it back to you together with the surcharge card.
However, in order to rule out situations that could cause inconvenience to our passengers, we have taken note of the situation you have reported.
We regret any inconvenience you have faced and we thank you for your understanding!
